"The Holiday" Copy Cat Tent

So for those of you that haven't seen the movie, "The Holiday", you must go and see it. It's an adorable movie that will make you laugh and refresh your little heart and soul. As I watched this movie I just about died at the scene where Cameron Diaz was invited by two little girl's to see their home-made tent. This was just the best tent I have seen ever. It was so princess like with a lamp inside and hanging-man made glitter stars at the top.

Since I have a little, girl I couldn't resist the opportunity to try to make this same tent. So after consulting with a wonderful man at my nearby Ace Hardware store, I purchased my supplies and off I went to begin my construction. We painted our stairs and added a touch of glitter and carefully strung our blankets, quilts, and lace. We just finished it tonight, and although it doesn't look exactly like the one in the movie, it came pretty darn close. It was so much fun and I must say the little girl in me came out as I laid down with my daughter and her friend inside. I didn't want to leave. The best part of it all, was when Miranda asked if she could keep it up forever! I got a huge hug from her when it was all finished. How rewarding is that!

Her friend came over to enjoy the tent and Jaden, our son, couldn't resist joining in as well.

If some of you are wondering why there are photos of a fish tank, they are here because we just re-did her 26 gallon fresh water tank with bright neon colors. I know I feel too much for animals, as some say. I can't help it, I have to re-do the whole decor. You never know if those fish get sick of looking a the same plants and decorations. Our last theme in her tank was "China Town". This time it's "Neon Town".

Enjoy our "Holiday Movie Tent" copy cat tent.

Hello! I just watched this movie and am now dying to make one of these tents for my 3 daughters...just curious how you made the frame? I'm thinking about making one of these for my girls for Christmas in their playroom!

Thanks!
